Exploratory study of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons occurrence and distribution in manure pyrolysis products

چکیده

The occurrence and distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) have been investigated in the products derived from pyrolysis pig manure at low temperatures (<550 °C) a fixed bed reactor. focus was on sixteen PAH identified as priority pollutants by US Environment Protection Agency (EPA). does not generate significant additional amount EPA-PAH to that existing original manure, under operational conditions studied °C). While total yield indicate notable dependence temperature, among three well speciation changed significantly with temperature. proportion heavy species increased temperature increased. initial samples plays role both their concentration biochar. relationship biochar those raw material corroborated cow sample biochars obtained its pyrolysis. For this reason, feedstocks concentrations are recommended order obtain below maximum allowed threshold established for use soil enhancer International Biochar Initiative (IBI) European Certificate.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Chinese surface soil: occurrence and distribution.

In this study, 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were analyzed in 157 concurrently collected soil samples in 2005 over China. Higher concentration of ∑16PAHs was found in urban soil, followed by rural and background soil. The results indicated that PAHs in Chinese surface soil showed a primary distribution pattern, which was confirmed by the positive correlation with emission inventory...

Risk Assessment of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Pasta Products Consumed in Nigeria

Background: The present study aimed to quantitatively determine polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in pastas consumed in Nigeria with the view of estimating the daily intake amount and the possible risks to consumers. Methods: Sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined in locally produced and imported pasta using a GC-Mass Spectrometer. Estimation of daily intake was done on...

Biodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in US and Swedish smokeless tobacco products

BACKGROUND Debate about the health implications of using smokeless tobacco products (STPs) has prompted considerable interest in characterising their levels of toxic and carcinogenic components. In the present study seventy smokeless tobacco products from the US and Sweden, categorized as chewing tobacco, dry and moist snuff, hard and soft pellets, plug, and loose and portion snus, were analyse...

Transport of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in a Calcareous Wetland Soil

Knowledge of transport and degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is important in assessing PAH contamination of soils and water resources. The transport of naphthalene, anthracene, pyrene and phenanthrene was determined in a contaminated calcareous soil obtained from the Shadegan wetland (Khozestan, Iran) considering a column study in laboratory conditions. The PAHs were added ...
